PILOT PRIVACY NOTICE
Privacy at Bored?
Bored? is a student project testing a better way to discover university events and communities in Rotterdam.
Information we collect
- Account details: username, first name, and email address.
- Your private saves, event plans, friend connections, invitations, community preferences, notification choices, and minimal delivery records used to prevent duplicate alerts.
- If you connect WhatsApp: the WhatsApp account identifier needed to send messages, consent settings, and minimal webhook receipts used to prevent duplicate processing. Bored? does not store the text of incoming bot messages.
- Pilot feedback and first-party usage events such as viewing, saving, planning, or accepting an invitation.
- For organiser submissions: contact name, contact email, organisation, and event details.
How we use it
We use this information to provide the requested product features, review event submissions, prevent misuse, and learn whether the pilot is useful. Contact details from event submissions are never displayed in the public catalogue.
Pilot evidence is reviewed as aggregate totals. We do not store raw IP addresses in validation records and do not use third-party analytics identifiers.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell personal information. Public event details may link to the organiser's official website. Hosting providers process the minimum technical data required to operate the service. Pilot data is reviewed regularly and unnecessary personal information is deleted after the pilot.
Your choices
You choose the audience for each plan. Friend activity alerts and reminders for your saved or planned events are separate choices, off by default, and can be disabled from the account page. Following a community in Bored? and appearing in its member directory are separate choices. You can permanently delete your account and its connected personal data from the account page. You may ask the project team to correct or delete organiser contact details.
Invitation links hide the inviter's name by default. The inviter can choose to show their name for an individual link.
You can send STOP to disable WhatsApp alerts or UNLINK to remove the connection between WhatsApp and your Bored? account. You can also disconnect it from the account page.
Organiser submission status pages use a private, unguessable link. Anyone who receives that link can see the event title, organiser name, dates, and review status, but not the organiser contact details.
Before public launch
The team will add a dedicated privacy contact and final retention period before opening the service to the public.
